THE OBSERVATORY AT ALTA LAKES     WHERE THE POWDER HIDES

more than a vacation

It's a lifestyle

The Observatory is a private and most certainly unique backcountry cabin located 13 miles from Telluride, Colorado. The Observatory is nestled underneath the 13,000-foot Palmyra and Silver Peaks of the San Juan Mountains and is adjacent to the Telluride ski area. It is one of only a few homes in the United States at 11,000+ feet! Come experience what the locals have known for years!

THE POWDER

conquer the couloirs

Everyone has been awed by the magnetism of The Observatory and the surrounding peaks - whether there is snow on the ground or not.  It is an amazing place and once you come, you will always want to come back.  And we will be happy to see you upon every return....

THE experience

world's most spectacular ski lodges

The Observatory has a "what goes on at The Observatory stays at The Observatory" reputation and a clear sky view under moonlight that will take your the oxygen you brought with you and that breath away. I can't tell you anymore or they will kill me.  – Rachel Oakes-Ash, Stuff.co.nz
